Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Release: Pre-Order Bonuses, Dark Edition, And More

The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is just hours away--you can see when it unlocks in your region and platform, but it won't be long before you can start playing. If you want to pre-order it (allowing you to begin preloading in the case of digital versions), you should know a few things about its pre-order bonuses and different editions, including the Dark Edition that comes with night vision goggles.

First off, the game itself releases on October 25 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Of course, the original Modern Warfare was a trendsetter for the industry and helped make Call of Duty a massive annual success, and this year's installment serves as a reboot of the classic. It promises a deeper and grittier look at the realities of combat in current-day, with a new original story, along with some other significant changes.

The reboot includes a new Gunfight mode, which consists of quick two-on-two matches; a Ground War team battle royale mode that will support more than 100 players; a Special Ops mode with strategic co-op missions; and more. There are also nighttime maps, but those have actually been removed from the game just ahead of launch and will return as their own playlist.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare pre-order bonuses

A new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare pre-order bonus was announced during Sony's latest State of Play stream: the XRK Weapons Pack, which you'll be able to use on day one after launch. The pack includes the XRK M4 assault rifle and XRK .357 handgun, which both have a matte bronze finish and various attachments.

As additional pre-order bonuses, both the PlayStation and Microsoft stores are also offering a Prestige Token for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and at the PlayStation Store you'll get a PS4 Dynamic Reveal theme, too. Pre-ordering any version will also immediately unlock the classic version of Captain Price in Blackout, Black Ops 4's battle royale mode, playable on PS4 and on other platforms.

GameStop is offering an exclusive pre-order bonus: a C.O.D.E. calling card that comes with every pre-order of the game. Plus, GameStop is donating a portion of every copy sold to the Call of Duty Endowment, which helps unemployed veterans find jobs. GameStop pre-orders also come with an exclusive collectible two-sided poster, which is available to pick up in stores (you'll need to show them your order confirmation if you purchase online). Posters are available now, and supplies are limited.

Finally, Amazon is offering $10 credit to Prime members who pre-order Modern Warfare. Best Buy is offering the same deal for My Best Buy members (a free membership is available).

Notably, it comes with functioning night vision goggles (decked out in Modern Warfare-inspired details) that let help you see up to 20 meters in total darkness.
