To celebrate the arrival of Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Activision is hosting a free multiplayer trial this weekend on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The free trial includes numerous playlists and maps, including the two most recent additions to the 6v6 multiplayer catalog. You can start playing for free right now and continue playing throughout the weekend until June 15 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET.

Unlike many free weekend trials we see, Modern Warfare's is limited to select multiplayer content. Activision has revealed two of the 6v6 multiplayer maps you can check out: Zhokov Scrapyard and Hardhat. Scrapyard was just added with the Season 4 update. The close quarters map originally appeared in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. You can also play Hardhat, another small map that takes place in a construction yard and initially debuted in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Those legacy maps will be joined by "a few other fan-favorites," according to a press release.

Free trial players can also dive into Gunfight, the 2v2 showdown game mode that's new to Modern Warfare. Gunfight eliminates loadouts by spawning you with a random weapon each round. The first team to take five rounds wins the match. Seven maps specifically designed for the tactically-oriented Gunfight will be in the playlist during the free trial.

To partake in the free weekend, you'll need to download Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play battle royale, from the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, or Battle.net. While PS4 players don't need PlayStation Plus to play Warzone, an active Xbox Live Gold subscription is required to play on Xbox One.

If you want to keep playing after the free weekend, the full Modern Warfare experience is currently on sale for all three platforms. It's one of the many games discounted during PlayStation's Days of Play sale and Xbox's Deals Unlocked sale. The standard edition is on sale for $45, while the Battle Pass edition is down to $64. The Battle Pass edition comes with enough in-game currency to purchase Season 4's Battle Pass, 20 free unlockable tiers of rewards, a combat knife and skin, and the XRK Weapons Pack.
