I really dont read to much into the hype but I do think Infinite Warfare will struggle. I am looking forward to the MW Remake but it is not going to be like it was when the game first came out and its hard to justify $80 for it. Everyone keeps calling on infinity ward to go back to there roots of modern and old warfare but people have forgotten that 3 of the 4 main people that brought all those older games together are gone, they left in that activision dispute after MW2.

But the real reason it will struggle is because fatigue is setting in on many aspect of COD, far future themes, exo suits, gadgets, content over load (how many neon, zig zag, happy face gun reticles and skins do I really need?) and most importantly repetitive game mechanics. I think people will rejoice with the new battlefield because to a certain degree it can resemble the old adage of less is more and battlefield doesn't release a game using there core game mechanics but once every 3 years.

@kaluaj: You're absolutely right on all fronts. However, I do think that a large number of fans would just buy it for COD4. You can't get the remastered any other way anyway. I believe they played it pretty clever. Though I am not sure how the hype game will play out. BF1 might have the edge now, but they are a long way from release and both parties can show a lot to work for/against them in the coming months.

Dumbass developers .... Gamers have been asking for years for a game set in WW1, people want to relive real battles and scenarios not some futuristic made-up events we're already sick of

Avatar image for ltjohnnyrico

@FakeR192: Titanfall is futuristic as is Halo 5 .. and both are really good recent shooters .. Titanfall 2 sounds like its going to be Good too .. Not everyone wants historic Battles plus COD and battlefield are different .. COD has always been faster paced arcadey fun .. so the setting is less relevant anyway !!

He knows damn well inside that Infinite Warfare is going to lose to Battlefield 1. BF1 is looking like the better game this year. That's all I have to say on this topic.

This trailer bent over Infinite Warfare's trailer, and butt f*cked it into oblivion.

Yeah, great news about this is that BF is going to start a whole new genre going back to the Historical stuff. What a breath of fresh air, particularly with these new WW2 titles coming out as well.

Going to be a great time for games. Finally, The Division would have been the last modern, future, sci fi shooter game i will ever have to buy. Bring on the greatness and CHANGE.

The developers respect each other. Leave the cutthroat poo throwing to the gamers.

Avatar image for vvulturas

@frostedtaro: Not sure about that. Some DICE designer was "throwing poo" at Infinity Ward, when they released the Infinite Warfare trailer.

@howiex89: probably because it's COD dev (you know? one of the most sold game franchise in whoe history?) and probably becuase they commented on Battlefield (you know? one of the most beloved FPS franchise ever). Why else could that be?

Finally a battlefield game that has gotten my interest since 2005, Loved battlefield 2... but everything after that just didn't seem to get my interest since 2142 (wasn't "sooo" bad), bad company and the others. Looking forward to giving it another shot

I like this .. nice to see mutual respect ... Gamers could learn a lot instead of the fanboy nonsense we usually see in the comments sections here !!

@ltjohnnyrico: lol, Infinity Ward is just politely addressing the terrile youtube marks their trailer has. This has nothing to do with BF1 and more so to do with their awful reveal on youtube. ...And yes it is awful...1 million dislikes is awful compared to some 250,000 likes. You bet your ass Treyarch is scrambling right now to switch their game over/reskin their game to something else if they are still into developing that future shit. It's too late for Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer to gut their games.

That's funny. The COD team are really taking advantage by killing with kindness after people from DICE were bashing the hell out of The new Call of Duty trailer on Twitter.

Seriously though. Will this finally be the COD that people look at and say "Meh". Since we're seeing more intense, interesting shooters like Overwatch and Battleborn to fill that run and gun itch? Where Battlefield is creating more compelling content with their new theatre which is FINALLY something interesting no one has taking advantage -- the warfare advancements of WW1.

I haven't cared about shooters in years but Overwatch is actually taking up my time and this new Battlefield has me very intrigued. NOW let's see if we get an actual game when it comes out and not some boring shell like Battlefront. I want wide open battlefields, more destruction back, and strategy. BF doesn't have to compete with COD as much anymore so I'd love to see them take the 'COD' out of BF again... so sick of these tight, CQB maps, and run and gun favoring layouts.

Is this for real? That is hilarious. I wonder when this will be a story on GS, tomorrow? This definitely desrves a story on GS and if GS doesnt do a article on it then they have been paid all these years for their reviews of Cod.

Infinity Ward's and Activsion's CEO is so disrespectful for this. It's egregious. I hope his bank account goes empty and they lose all their precious money their obsessed with. This is the equivalent of golf clapping or taunting an opponent that got's you on the heels in a fight/boxing match you don't even realize your losing. It's stupid, makes you and your team look bad, and makes you look salty as all hell. You lose, now take your loss with some grace. It's obvious what the fans want and that isn't your crappy rehashed title for 79.99 that you tried to pair a classic with to sell. Companies with business practices like Activision should be banned for selling games, period.

just shows who has more class between dice and iw. at least iw can release a stable and properly functioning game with an enjoyable sp. i enjoy bf, been playing it since 2006 but imo dice has alot of nerve shit talking iw after some of the shit they've pulled over the years.

Avatar image for Semi-Automatic
Semi-Automatic

@ninjaxams: This completely went over your head didn't it? Nobody in IW has any class that's why they are selling you the same game for 3 years in a row with a different name and charging you 80 dollars for it along with a rehashed version or another game to sell it. It's the epitome of "no class", but you seem to be the simple consumer they want so go ahead and buy it.

Avatar image for ninjaxams

@Semi-Automatic: if you think all the cods are the same your in dire need of a lobotomy. btw son, you more than likely have activision to thank for some of these questionable actions, not iw.

Avatar image for Asakura90

@ninjaxams: well, same thing can be said for DICE, it's EA who forced them to rush BF4 before it was ready, & milk them with Hardline & Battlefront. Beside, the people who were trash talking weren't even the devs, just some media peeps. But "DICE trash talking IW" is a more click bait title for other news sites.
