Call of Duty called up
Activision's WWII action title ships out today, accompanied by a massive marketing blitz.
The World War II action genre grew more crowded today with the release of Call of Duty by Activision. Developed by a group of former Medal of Honor: Allied Assault designers at Infinity Ward, the award-winning first-person shooter features 24 missions on Western and Eastern European fronts. The game also supports online multiplayer play for up to 32 participants. To read the complete dossier on the game, check out GameSpot's review.
Activision is accompanying the game's release with a massive marketing blitz, promoting the game on numerous TV spots, before the final The Lord of the Rings film, and in the forthcoming 50th Anniversary Issue of Playboy. Activision is also starting an "Answer the Call" sweepstakes, which gamers can enter via the official Call of Duty site.
Call of Duty is rated "T" for Teen, retails for $49.99, and is only available for the PC. The game won Best PC Game and Best Action game at this year's E3 conference.
