Activision has released the Nuketown 2025 map for the Wii U version of Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

Wii U players started noticing the map appearing in the game earlier this week and were undestandbly a little surprised since the map is about two years late to the party. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for the Wii U launched in November 2012, and the Nuketown 2025 map was orginally supposed to be a pre-order bonus. It was released on other platforms shortly after the game launched.

Why developer Treyarch and publisher Activision decided to release it now is unclear, but it does coincide with a double XP weekend.

Nuketown 2025 is a reimagined version of the Nuketown map from Call of Duty: Black Ops, which is one of the smallest in the series.

The Zombies mode map Die Rise might also be added to the game soon. Some Wii U users reported they saw the map appear at the same time as Nuketown 2025, but were not able to launch it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II launched in November 2012 and generated $1 billion in revenue in under a month.

The next game in the series, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, launches November 4 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
