Awakening, as the DLC pack is called, is the first of four map packs coming to Black Ops III. The newly released trailer above offers a brief glimpse of the new Zombies map, Der Eisendrache, which was teased in a video last week. It's set in a medieval castle in the middle of a snowstorm. In addition to the map, Awakening adds four new mega gumballs.

The video also gives us a look at Awakening's four multiplayer maps: Gauntlet (set in a military facility with three very different areas), Rise (a construction site in snowy Zurich), Splash (an abandoned waterpark), and Skyjacked (a flying airship). The latter is a remake of the map Hijacked from Black Ops II.

Awakening will be available on February 2 on PS4. This marks the first Call of Duty DLC pack to debut on a PlayStation platform before other systems thanks to a deal Sony signed earlier this year with Activision. A release date for Awakening on other platforms wasn't shared.

I'm afraid I have a confession to make.

After years of deriding Call of Duty, I picked up BOP3 and am having an enormous amount of fun. Zombies is ace and the multiplayer very enjoyable. The controls are visceral and satisfying and there is an enormous amount of content.

Admittedly, this is the first COD I've bought since modern warfare 2, so I'm not in the least bit burnt out.

@cranston53: why would you be ashamed. Aside from what the people gripe about COD is still a solid franchise. Yes we want new and different games but I do appreciate CODs consistency, with incremental changes. Actually when you think about it, the same can be said for a lot of shooters in general. What is Halo 5 but Halo CE with updated graphics, guns, etc...

For what COD is, it's a great game and the sells reflect that. It has been a standard setter that many shooters try to mimic. If you don't like it, maybe you're burnt out on it but to say it's a bad game, garbage, etc., is slightly overdoing it

@cranston53: haven't played COD either since MW2. Had BO3 in my hand at the register, then opted for fallout4 instead. This DLC map packs + the micro transactions they put in woulda probably pissed me off

@cranston53: Hey man no shame. I hated MW3 and Ghosts. Didn't even play advanced warfare so I was very skeptical about BO3. Lo and behold-- loving BO3. Feels a lot like BO2 with some new mechanics and the specialists. I do get annoyed with all the jump shotting though (seriously, some people can ONLY get kills if they jump).

At least they're finally remaking a map I actually enjoyed playing the first time.

@suicidesn0wman: The map Rise kinda looks like the Airport from MW2 and 3.

@suicidesn0wman: Maps look cool but their trailers suck so bad, Why can't they just do a simple trailer without having to listen to them blabber on about crap

I personally hate that and the rock music. Its like they're making fun of themselves. The trailers are always like "This is the best DLC, this map is so cool" with rock music playing in the background.

There's been an awakening.

Avatar image for fig56

@mhfon: i was thinking that too. Wasn't there DLC called Awakening in Advanced Warfare?

Avatar image for madskills6117

@fig56: think it was called reckoning. Wouldn't surprise me though if they were recycling map pack names too.
