Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth delayed

UK-based developer Headfirst Productions has today announced that Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, which was scheduled for release early next year, is not currently scheduled for completion before the second half of 2003. After a 2872809disagrement with Ravensburger Interactive Media earlier this year, Headfirst is also still actively looking to sign with a publisher for the game.

The game is a first-person action adventure based on the Call of Cthulhu RPG by Chaosium, which is in turn based on the novels of American horror author H.P. Lovecraft. Despite the fact that the game uses a first-person perspective, players will not have access to a wide range of weapons, nor will they be able to keep track of their health, ammo, and such using a heads-up display, since Headfirst is going to a lot of trouble to do away with the need for one. In fact, Headfirst says that the game will be far less action-orientated than most first-person games, incorporating a great deal of puzzle solving and character interaction by means other than a firearm.
