Buying an Xbox One S? You Should Wait for This $300 Bundle
Both new Xbox One S bundles will be available from August 23.
Microsoft has announced two new bundles for the Xbox One S that will be available from August 23.
The first is a Madden NFL 17 bundle, which includes the latest entry in EA's NFL sim series pre-loaded on its 1TB version of the Xbox One S. Also included are seven Madden Ultimate Team Pro Packs and one month of EA access. It will cost $349 and, for a limited time, preorder customers will be given a coupon for 20 percent off on the NFLShop.com.
Bundles purchased at GameStop will include a physical copy of Madden NFL 17.
The second bundle is Halo themed. It offers the Xbox One S in either 500GB or 1TB variants, with Halo 5: Guardians and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which contains remastered versions of Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4. The 500 GB model is priced at $299 while the 1TB is $350.
Microsoft has noted that the 1TB Halo bundle will be available in "very limited quantities" at select Microsoft stores and its online store. More information about this bundle's release in other territories will be provided in September.
The Xbox One S is 40 percent smaller than the current Xbox One and comes with an internal power supply, compared to external for the existing model. It also supports High Dynamic Range (HDR), which offers "richer, more luminous colors;" Microsoft-published games such as Gears of War 4 and Scalebound will be among the first to support HDR.
A standalone version of the Xbox One S with a 2TB hard drive will also be available in August for $400.
It also comes with an updated Xbox One controller that features a new textured grip, better wireless, and Bluetooth support. This controller can also be purchased separately for $60, starting on August 2.
Microsoft is also planning to release a new, more powerful Xbox device, called Project Scorpio, in holiday 2017. Microsoft has referred to this system as the "most powerful console ever made."
