While recent talk of expansions for massively multiplayer online role-playing games has been dominated by World of Warcraft's Burning Crusade, it wasn't the only MMORPG expansion news to hit over the past week.

One of the games that paved the way for WOW and all MMORPGs, Sony Online Entertainment's EverQuest, is getting its 13th expansion. EverQuest: The Buried Sea will be available for digital download on February 13 for $29.99.

The expansion will see citizens of Norrath battle armies of undead and save an ancient city from being swallowed up by The Buried Sea. Additions to the game include ship-to-ship combat, 60 new missions, the ability to use Energeian power sources to enchant items, the creation of fellowships, and the ability to create customized guild banners that serve as teleporting beacons.

The original EverQuest was launched in March 1999 and earned GameSpot's Game of the Year award for that year. For more information on EverQuest: The Buried Sea, head over to the official Web site.
