It appears gamers hoping to learn what Bungie's first product in its 10-year publishing deal with Activision is won't get the news at the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo next month.

According to the most recent Bungie Weekly Update, the Washington state studio will not attend next month's geek gala.

"We won't officially be at E3 this year," reads the statement. "We wanted to make sure you didn't get whipped into a rumor-fueled frenzy only to have your expectations unceremoniously dashed during expo week."

As for what is known about Bungie's first game with Activision, the game will run on an entirely new engine, will be set in an all-new universe, and will be offered on multiple platforms. However, at GDC Online 2010, Bungie writer and designer Joseph Staten did tease the studio's upcoming project.

"I think it's a shame that we spent so much time working on this world called Halo and then we only let people spend six or eight or 10 hours in it," Staten said. "Wouldn't it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you, with lots of stories to tell, like a big, infinite storytelling horizon? Man, that would be great."
