It may have taken a few attempts, but Bethesda Softworks finally got The Pitt--the second game add-on for its highly acclaimed action role-playing game Fallout 3--out the door in late March. Just a little more than a month on, the publisher is preparing to release its third Fallout 3 expansion, announcing today that Broken Steel will be available for the Xbox 360 and PC editions of the game on May 5 for $10 (800 Microsoft points).

As detailed in GameSpot's brand-new preview, Broken Steel will raise the game's level cap from 20 to 30, as well as add in approximately five to six hours of additional content, according to the publisher. And though Operation Anchorage and The Pitt abandoned the Capital Wasteland for foreign locales, Broken Steel will largely take place around the primary locations in Fallout 3's main storyline.

According to Bethesda, Broken Steel will also address Fallout 3's controversial original ending, saying that Broken Steel would not have an ending as terminal as the one in the main storyline that it replaced. For more on the DLC, check out GameSpot's interview with game designer Alan Nanes.
