Multiplatform shooter Brink shipped during May 2011 to a lukewarm critical reception and cracked the NPD's top-ten software sales list only in its launch month, but this didn't stop the game from recording sales of 2.5 million, according to Splash Damage CEO Paul Wedgwood.

Brink racked up 2.5 million in sales, according to Splash Damage.

Speaking to industry news site Gamasutra, Wedgwood said Brink is "estimated" to have sold that many copies worldwide, generating $120-$140 million in revenue in the process. Not all of this money went to the London, England-based developer.

"But of course, as an independent video game developer, we don't earn that kind of revenue, as we're not the publisher of the title," Wedgwood said.

Splash Damage will become a publisher with its just-announced Warchest publishing program , an establishment that will focus on developing free-to-play games. The first in this program will be RAD Soldiers, a turn-based multiplayer strategy game for iOS due out this June.
