Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar is a "wish-fulfillment" vacation comedy.

Bridesmaids co-writers Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live) and Annie Mumolo (Modern Family) have re-teamed for the newly announced comedy Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, which will be released digitally on February 12. Even though the entire movie's plot is pretty much right there in the title, you can and should check out the new trailer below that conveys the film's kooky and earnest tone.

In Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, the titular best friends leave their small Midwestern town for the first time for a vacation in Vista Del Mar, Florida. While taking in the sun, they kibbitz, take in the sights, and try to live their best vacation lives.

"We never get to go on vacation," Mumolo told Entertainment Tonight. "So, this movie is inspired by the trip Kristen and I want to take together… it's our sort of wish-fulfillment trip."

In a recent Today interview, Wiig shared that she and Mumolo have "always gravitated towards these middle-aged women who are very similar with big wigs." The pair also shared there was originally a character who embodied this whole vibe in Bridesmaids--who would have been Maya Rudolph's (The Good Place) mother, a character who incessantly discussed Costco--but it got cut in the end.

This new film's release in 2021 marks the tenth anniversary of Bridesmaids.
