Breakdown E3 2003 Preshow Report

Namco's new first-person action game will contain both weapon attacks and hand-to-hand fighting.

Comments

Namco is working on a new first-person action game for the Xbox called Breakdown. Though the game has you viewing the action through the eyes of your character, you won't rely solely on heavy weapons--the game contains a melee combat system that sounds somewhat akin to what you'd find in a fighting game.

Breakdown will have a science-fiction setting of some kind, although no hard details about the storyline have been released. Namco says that the game will tell its story entirely through real-time cutscenes rather than using CG movies. The game will also feature "contemporary licensed music," which is becoming more common in games these days. Breakdown is currently slated for a December release. We'll bring you more information as soon as it's available.
