Both versions of Pirates to launch simultaneously

GameSpot has learned that Electronic Arts' action-adventure game Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat, formerly titled Pirates of Skull Cove, will be released simultaneously for the Sony PlayStation 2 and the Microsoft Xbox. The Xbox version will join the PS2 game, when it is released in February of next year. The PlayStation 2 game will go gold in mid-December, while the Xbox version should be completed shortly thereafter.

In Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat, players assume the role of Katarina, as she adventures through various locations around the world in search of treasures. During her adventures, she must also topple the villains who rule the islands and seas of the world. The gameplay is split up between sequences where Katarina runs on foot, fighting enemies in hand-to-hand combat, and areas where she assumes command of a ship on the high seas, firing cannonballs at pirates.

Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat is being developed by EA's Westwood Studios. GameSpot will have more on the game in the coming weeks.
