Lilith has appeared in all three of the main Borderlands games, along with 2014's Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel . The movie will be directed by Eli Roth (The House with a Clock in Its Walls), and he wants to cast cosplayers in order to kill them off.

"I'm so excited to dive into the world of Borderlands, and I could not be doing it with a better script, producing team, and studio," Roth said in a statement in February. "I have a long, successful history with Lionsgate--I feel like we have grown up together and that everything in my directing career has led to a project of this scale and ambition."

Chernobyl's Craig Mazin penned the latest version of the script. Avi and Ari Arad and Erik Feig will serve as producers, while Randy Pitchford, founder of the Borderlands game franchise's development studio, Gearbox Software, will serve as executive producer along with Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick.

There is no release date set for the Borderlands film at this time.
