On May 18, Nintendo will officially revive its classic boxing franchise with Punch-Out for the Wii. While Punch-Out will be the first new installment in the franchise in 15 years, it won't be the only title bearing the series' name to arrive on Nintendo's platform this year.

Following on from the original Punch-Out's Virtual Console release in 2007, Nintendo said today that Super Punch-Out, originally released for the SNES in 1994, is now available through the Wii's online store. Little Mac once again plays king of the ring in the 800 Wii point ($8 ) boxer, squaring off against heavyweights such as Bear Hugger, Bald Bull, and Super Macho Man.

On Nintendo's original downloadable game channel WiiWare, the publisher has released its so-called "first-of-its-kind first-person-groomer" game, Bonsai Barber. Gamers assume the role of a barber and are tasked with trimming the tresses of a variety of sentient fruits and vegetables, to comedic effect. The game features more than 30 codified hairstyles, though players can also opt to snip as they please. Bonsai Barber is available for 1,000 Wii points ($10) and supports multiplayer for up to four.
