Xolo Maridueña, the star of the upcoming DC Universe film Blue Beetle, has hinted at the possibility of surprise cameos. In an interview with The Wrap, Maridueña said, "I think if you're a DC fan, there's going to be more than just one character that you recognize… I can tell you that."

The movie's cast includes Adriana Barraza, Damían Alcázar, Elpidia Carrillo, Bruna Marquezine, Raoul Max Trujillo, Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez, with Belissa Escobedo and Harvey Guillén also appearing. Set to release on August 18, Blue Beetle introduces Maridueña as Jamie Reyes, a recent college graduate whose life takes a transformative turn when he comes across an ancient artifact known as "the scarab."

Maridueña has previously described Blue Beetle as a blend of DC and Marvel superhero themes. While Maridueña did not provide specific details, his comment suggests the potential for surprise cameos from well-known figures within the DC Universe.

Blue Beetle is directed by Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings), while the screenplay is by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, drawing inspiration from DC's extensive roster of characters. John Rickard and Zev Foreman serve as producers, with Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman, and Garrett Grant as executive producers.

At a CinemaCon panel earlier this year, Soto emphasized the importance of family in the upcoming DC film, the first to feature a Latino hero. Soto highlighted how the Reyes family plays a vital role when the scarab chooses Jaime, granting him superpowers. Initially, Jaime is reluctant to accept his abilities, a sentiment echoed by Xolo Maridueña, who portrays him. However, with the support of his family, Jaime discovers his inner strength and embraces his destiny as a hero. The director also promised there are heroic arcs throughout the movie for the Reyes family.
