BlizzCon 2019 Dates And Ticket Details Announced; Prices Are Going Up

Ticket prices are going up.

BlizzCon 2019 now has dates. The World of Warcraft and Overwatch developer's annual gaming show will be held November 1-2 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Tickets go on sale in two waves, the first of which commences on Saturday, May 4. The second wave will become available on May 8. In previous years, ticket-buyers received a goody bag, but this year, everyone gets to choose a special collectible statue.

The choices include either a human footman or orc grunt; these are meant to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise. You can see the two statues below. The statues will be available for everyone to buy in the future as well.

Like in past years, BlizzCon 2019 is expected to feature gaming, esports, cosplay, camaraderie, and the latest Blizzard Entertainment news." There will be developer panels, esports contests, and more. There will also be a new "BlizzCon Pregame Festivities" event that's held outside the convention center the day before the show starts. This is described as a "casual get-together," and there is also a Darkmoon Faire event taking place on Thursday.

Blizzard is changing up how ticketing works for BlizzCon 2019 and charging more. There are three options this year: the BlizzCon Pass ($230 USD), the BlizzCon Portal Pass ($550 USD), and the BlizzCon Benefit Dinner Pass ($750 USD). In 2018, it cost $200 to get in.

The BlizzCon Pass gets you in the door and access to the Pregame Festivities event, in addition to the statue and in-game goodies. The BlizzCon Portal Pass, meanwhile, includes a number of extras to justify the $550 price tag. That ticket includes everything mentioned above, as well as access to the Darkmoon Faire at the Night at the Faire event taking place the day before BlizzCon starts, as well as a number of "convenience-related extras." These include first access into the show hall, preferred parking, separate lines, access to a dedicated lounge where people can hang out and chat with Blizzard developers.

As for the $750 USD Benefit Dinner Pass, this is the ultimate package that gets you into a charity dinner event the night before BlizzCon where you can meet and speak with developers, artists, and other Blizzard people, along with all of the perks mentioned above. Proceeds from the dinner go to the CHOC Children's charity.

Probably the biggest news from last year's BlizzCon was the reveal of Diablo Immortal, a new mobile game. Many were hoping to see Diablo 4, but it didn't happen, and fans voiced their concerns.

Well some things

1. Remember you have to have a phone to attend this.

2. Be sure to give any Devs you see a hug and maybe some cash as they might wind up unemployed after 2-3 months after this happens.

3. Expect another mobile phone game disaster. Probably the Warcraft mobile game.

4. Last year's Blizzcon wasn't really about fans but rather direct announcements to their investors

@dragonsama: Eh, if they announced a World of Warcraft: Pet Battles phone game that you could play to get more pets for your in-game WoW characters, I can virtually guarantee it'd fly onto phones faster than Facebook's malvertising. That would be the one phone game players actually want.

This is such a waste of money. Quit paying money to go to these things. Have them present their product and services to you without having to pay for it. Considering they are 1) Trying to sell you a product. 2) Continually disappoint now and have completely lost their way anyway. Blizzard as we once knew it is dead and gone.

@Utnayan: nah this event was great. One of the best community gatherings in gaming, but now since last year it is stained. It doesn’t help that their latest WoW expat was lame either and that they made very bad decisions like announcing a popular game among the fans was going to die especially after unveiling some really cool stuff for it.

Only people who go to these are hardcore Blizzard fans; and so Blizzard increases the price... this is how little respect they have for even the most loyal fans. They think everyone is a fat juicy piggy bank they can rob and will take advantage of even their most loyal followers.

The most laughable part of the entire thing: You can't get in without a smartphone because you must use the AXS mobile app to scan your ticket(s') QRcode.

Think about that one for a minute...

@squishytia: That AXS.com app is fkn horseshit. Take one look at its permissions.

Just this week I bought a ticket, thinking I could have them scan a PDF like EVERY OTHER TICKET SELLER, and opted to just pay again at the box office rather than give them:

--Full access to Contacts

--Full access to precise GPS location

--Ability to read and create Bluetooth connections

--Full network access

--Prevent phone from sleeping

--Install referrer API

Go read the reviews of this fkn spyware...

Brought to you by American Express.

Go Google "AXS refund" while you're at it.

This is headed straight for a class-action lawsuit.

They know it’ll still sell out in six seconds even though it will be a PR nightmare after last year. It just goes to show that when you live in a bubble, your priorities become as transparent as your surroundings.

After last year's sh*tshow, hopefully this time the event won't be a out of season April Fool's joke.

Imagine this: CEO walks onto the stage and opens with "Introducing the game you've been waiting nearly two decades for... Warcraft 4! Exclusively on iOS. Free to play. Timers on building things that can be sped up with gems."

I'm sure everyone will be over the moon at getting Warcraft 4! Those figures they're giving out would probably end up as projectiles.

I’m super hyped to see what mobile game(s) they are bringing to the stage this year. And yes, I wrote this on my phone.
