the prizes sucks if you wight in the amount of effort it takes to do a great comics done with great art, not stick figure or retarded looking drawings. The prize should be a job with good pay and benefits or get your foot on the door of the "gaming industry"

@hellpolice I couldn't agree more... I was already assuming that they're looking for new talent and that the grand prize is getting employed by them or something along those lines. Instead, they give you a board game?? What the... Yeah, in this case I'd rather do Blizzard fan-art just for fun in my free time. They can keep the prizes.

Not great prizes but it's more than I make with a lot of comics that we make. Probably will submit a couple.

I plan on creating one showing the results of the nerd rage from people who completely freak out over a raid. YOU'RE NOT DOING ENOUGH DPS. /quit. Punches one their monitors and considers ending themselves because they didn't get that boss down to get that oh so coveted purple sword. But their dog and guild buddies talk him down and all is well until next week...where the cycle begins anew.

Worst job advert I've ever seen. It's the equivalent of being paid less than minimum wage.

This rubs me completely the wrong way. Creating a comic is a pretty involved and challenging artistic endeavor, a.k.a. a heck of a lot of work. To offer as prizes a board game, an a couple of art books they have by the hundreds in some office closet is a paltry incentive.

You'll think a multi million dollar company could offer, I dunno, cash prizes as incentive would be the least they could do.

@SciFiCat buddy...every year at comic con there are tons of people with quality art that they show the publishers and most of them get turned down without ANYTHING. so here's a contest with a prize and recognition and it's not good enough? You people really are super spoiled.

You be the judge of how much effort this endeavour is worth to you, nobody is forcing you to join.

@Michall @SciFiCat Let me explain something to you, when artist show their art samples to publishers, they don't turn over or give the right to the publishers to use their stuff. It is simply a "show and if you like hire me, if you don't I can walk away with my work".

On the other hand when you submit your art for a contest such as this you are basically giving it away to Blizzard. The terms of these contest stipulate that you are giving Blizzard permission to use and reproduce the art that you are submitting to the contest as they see fit and you don't get payed a dime for it. The winning pieces get used to promote Blizzard, but those who did not win but are still very good can be used as promotional material later on and because the artist signed the terms of participation, they turn over the rights of what they submitted regardless.

"Oh but it is free promotion!" That is the excuse these contest use to draw in inexperienced artist to give their art and effort for free. These kind of contest have little to no value to promote an artist's work, these contests are about creating promotional material based on Blizzard's properties to promote Blizzard's content. Artist, if they are good, have plenty of ways to promote their art on the internet nowadays and attain a following on their own to live of their craft. If I'm going to spend several dozen or hundred hours writing and illustrating a comic it will be to either self promotion or to get paid for it. So if the prizes are not even worth sinking the effort then it is a lose, lose proposition.

@SciFiCat At least offer some actual video games or something like a statuette or Special Edition-kind of loot. These prizes are about as exciting as WoW nowadays.

@arqe You know, that's actually a very good idea. Not only does it tell people that it's time to move on from Warcraft, but it's blunt and real. Tragedy at its finest. I like it.
