There are names that carry more weight than others in the game industry. Epic Games' Mike Capps, Insomniac Games' Ted Price, and Blizzard Entertainment's Frank Pearce are three such names. At the 2012 D.I.C.E. Summit, those three names appeared on stage in a self-moderated panel to talk about just how they got their start in the industry and how they built their reputations.

As the three quizzed one another, it quickly became evident that they were generally interested in picking each other's brains on how to run companies. Questions ranged from how a game developer expands to 4,700 employees, 750 of which are in development, to how to correct a project once it's gone off the rails.

The D.I.C.E. Summit (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) is a once yearly conference dedicated to exploring approaches to the creative process and artistic expression as they uniquely apply to the development of interactive entertainment. It is organized by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences and hosts the annual Interactive Achievement Awards, which celebrate the best games of the past year, as voted by AIAS members. Comedian Jay Mohr will return to host the awards show, which takes place on February 9.
