Blizzard Confirms Overwatch PS4/Xbox One Editions, Release Window [UPDATE]

[UPDATE 2] During Blizzard's BlizzCon opening ceremony today, the publisher officially confirmed that Overwatch is coming to PS4 and Xbox One through the Origins Edition. It is scheduled to launch in spring 2016 on the same day that the PC version arrives.
The game's newly launched website reveals that the standard edition of Overwatch will cost $40 on PC. However, the Origins Edition (the only version available for Xbox One and PS4) costs $60. In addition, GameStop's website reveals a $130 collector's edition.
Blizzard has also announced three new Overwatch characters and released a new trailer.
- Genji -- "A cybernetic ninja, is an expert assassin capable of extraordinary feats of agility, including reflecting enemy attacks with his blade."
- D.Va -- "A former pro-gaming superstar who pilots an experimental military mech in defense of her home country."
- Mei -- "Travels the globe applying her scientific expertise to protect the natural world; in battle, her arsenal of climate-manipulating technology has the power to put the opposition on ice."

It looks like one of Blizzard's BlizzCon surprises has been revealed early. Game Informer reports that retailer GameStop has "received word" that multiplayer shooter Overwatch, Blizzard's first new franchise in 17 years, is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Previously, the game was confirmed only for PC.

All versions of the game are priced at $60 and are slated to launch sometime in 2016, according to the report. It was previously speculated that Overwatch could be a free-to-play game.
A Blizzard representative told GameSpot, "We are excited to share more information about Overwatch with everyone at BlizzCon this weekend--so be sure to tune in to the opening ceremonies."
If an official announcement is coming at BlizzCon, you won't have to wait long. The annual event begins tomorrow, November 6, with an opening ceremony at 11 AM PDT. We're also expecting to see the first trailer for the upcoming Warcraft movie during BlizzCon.
