Ripcord Games has announced that it has combined its RPG-adventure game Legend of the Blade Masters and its follow-up, the multiplayer title Quest of the Blade Masters, into one release for both the Dreamcast and the PC. The new game, titled Legend of the Blade Masters, will feature the single-player adventure and complete online multiplayer gaming options.

Ripcord's goal is to allow PC and Dreamcast players to participate in cooperative online gaming environments. In fact, the company told GameSpot that it hopes to integrate this cross-platform gaming feature into all its PC and Dreamcast game releases. However, the cross-platform feature is still in the testing and development stages, as its final implementation will depend on Sega's ability to structure SegaNet to handle such network demands.

"Legend of the Blademasters is designed for old-school pen-and-paper RPG fans who are looking for a quality 3D adventure game. We at Ripcord know that these gamers will be playing together online - be it with their PC or their Dreamcast," says John Peterson, executive vice president at Ripcord Games. "It is for this reason that, after much consideration, we decided to push the launch of the title to September in order to deliver the game, complete with multiplayer support, in a single package."

Legend of the Blademasters will be available on the PC and the Dreamcast on September 27, coinciding with the launch of SegaNet.
