Blade Runner: Black Lotus Anime Opening Sequence Revealed

The opening sequence to Blade Runner: Black Lotus has been released. The animated spin-off from the classic Blade Runner movies hits Adult Swim and Crunchyroll this fall.

The opening sequence is a stunningly animated and stylish sequence that starts with some dazzling shots of futuristic Los Angeles as a Spinner ship soars through the sky. There's a silhouetted shot of a Blade Runner walking through an alleyway, a brief shot of Elle, the replicant who is the show's main character, and a close-up of an eye being scanned. The sequence is soundtracked by the moody song 'Feel You Now,' by Alessia Cara. Check it out below:

This video follows the Blade Runner: Black Lotus trailer, which was released during Comic-Con@Home last month. The show has 13 episodes and is directed by Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) and Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex). Acclaimed anime director Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) is a creative producer.

The series is set in 2032, which is 13 years after Ridley Scott's original movie, and a decade after a cataclysmic world event called the "Black Out." The official Blade Runner: Black Lotus synopsis reads, "A young woman wakes up with no memories, and possessing deadly skills. The only clues to her mystery are a locked data device and a tattoo of a black lotus. Putting together the pieces, she must hunt down the people responsible for her brutal and bloody past to find the truth of her lost identity."

The English-language voicecast includes Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist, Underwater), Will Yun Lee (Rampage), Samira Wiley (The Handmaid's Tale), and Brian Cox (Succession). The show will be available on Adult Swim's Toonami strand in English, while the Japanese version can be watched on Crunchyroll. Check out a list of the full voicecast here.
