E3 2018: Black Ops 4 Changes How DLC Works In Call Of Duty

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is changing up how the Call of Duty franchise releases DLC. Announced today was the Black Ops pass, which Activision says "represents a new approach to post-launch content." Specifically, this will take the form of a "live season" instead of four separate DLC expansion releases as the franchise is known for. What this means is Activision will release content faster to "keep things fresh" and launch new maps and content faster than before.

The Black Ops Pass for Black Ops 4 includes content for the game's three modes: Zombies, Multiplayer, and the battle royale mode Blackout. This takes the form of:

"Classified" is in addition to three Zombies "experiences" that will be available at launch: IX, Voyage of Despair, and Blood of the Dead.

"We all know Treyarch's track record when it comes to supporting Black Ops, so fans should expect a ton of community events and a full calendar of franchise celebrations for everybody to enjoy," Activision said in a press release.

Pricing for the Black Ops Pass was not announced; we'll report back with more details later. Black Ops 4 launches on October 12 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Keep checking back with GameSpot for more on Black Ops 4 during E3.
