Black Ops 3's Awakening DLC Free on PS4 This Weekend

Interested in Call of Duty: Black Ops III's Awakening DLC but not sure you want to buy it? You're in luck, as Activision has announced that all PlayStation 4 users can try Awakening for free this weekend.

From Friday (April 1) through Monday (April 4), anyone on PS4 can check out Awakening's new multiplayer maps (Gauntlet, Splash, Rise, and Skyjacked), as well as the new Zombies romp, Der Eisendrache.

All you'll need to do is install the latest Black Ops III update and the content should pop up automatically, starting at 10 AM PST tomorrow. The promotional period ends at the same time on Monday.

The only limitations are that private matches and the new Gobblegums from Awakening are only available for people who buy the expansion.

Although PS4 is the only platform getting this special promotion (presumably due to the Activision-Sony agreement), Activision is activating double XP and double weapon XP all weekend across all versions of Black Ops III.

Awakening is the first of four expansions coming to Black Ops III. The game's second one will be detailed today at 11 AM PST. We'll report back later with new information as it becomes available.
