You're right his statement was an ad hominem. If we go by the assumption that many COD gamers lack experience with a wide variety of games and tend to make stupid statements about things they've only just heard of (which in my experience is true), it does seem fair to make that assumption given your apparent lack of knowledge.A mod requires a game, yes, but a mod that attempts to remake a game (in whole, part, or spirit) will basically never use the same game engine because if it did the mod would be completely pointless. Case in point: The Dark Project, which is a Thief game being built using the Doom 3 engine. The majority is certainly not always right, but the fact that virtually everyone in this thread is calling you variations of the word "moron" or liking comments to that effect should make you at least stop and reevaluate your position.

Unless of course you truly are a moron, in which case you wouldn't do that.

@WCK619 I understand that there are many games built on the same engine and that that doesn't really make them all mods.....except this is a mod. It's a free modification based on the source engine. It's a modification of any source based game. You must own a source game to play the modification. By your definition most mods for Half-Life 2 are not actually mods, which is absolutely asinine.And your generalization that all indie games are crap is as ridiculous as saying that all games are all crap because some of them are. You accuse people of using ad hominems but you fail to recognize the fallacies in your own arguments (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hasty_generalization). Even if you don't enjoy playing indie games only a ignoramus would argue that the indie development community hasn't made significant innovative and artistic contributions to gaming as a whole.

@tooki Indie IS crap. Go watch GameSpot's "It Came From Xbox Live" which is pretty much a segment proving that the indie gaming industry is a heaping pile of laughably stupid garbage.

@Link3301 @emperiox @Sgthombre @mlcarter815 RuneScape GREATLY improved since they went HD. It's NOTHING like what it was even a few years ago. And, having played tons of MMOs (Galaxies, TOR, DCUO, STO, Champions Online, Guild Wars 2, Myst Online), RuneScape is actually one of my favorites and is far more fun than WoW. RuneScape actually focuses on stories that mean something rather than the generic "Go walk 20 seconds from my location and kill 10 of these creatures which is something I could do but I'm lazy". not to mention the obvious locations used with the brush called Copy & Paste.

And it's far from one of the worst games ever made. And you better not do the graphics hate, as unless it's a game like Myst, graphics are the LEAST reason to play a game.
