BioWare Producer Asks If You'd Play a Dragon Age "Tactics" Game

Something similar to XCOM or Fire Emblem, Mark Darrah says.

Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah has a question for you: "Would you play a Dragon Age Tactics game?" He's launched a Twitter poll asking fans to weigh in. Something to note here is that by "tactics" he says he means something along the lines of tactical franchises like XCOM or Fire Emblem.

Your options are "Yes," "No," "Only on PC," and "Only mobile/handheld." Voting closes later today, so if you want your voice heard, now is the time to submit your response.

There is no guarantee that BioWare will indeed make a turn-based Dragon Age tactics game, of course, but it's still interesting to think about.

Darrah also clarified that if this game were to happen, it would not replace the mainline Dragon Age series, something fans will probably enjoy hearing.

This would also be a "full game," he mentioned.

Like the first Dragon Age, 2014's Dragon Age Inquisition allowed you to play from a top-down view for some portions, which amounted to something of a more tactical experience.

Inquisition is the latest entry in the main series; no new games have been announced.

Pass, I'd rather you make a new IP rather than just put Dragon Age on it with a different engine.

Like DA: Origins yes.

Like DA2 or DAI, no. Console adaptation kills the PC versions while still only working fairly good on console.

Considering Fire Emblem and XCOM are some of my most beloved, punishing series and I am very interested in Dragon Age lore I would have no objections to this. Assuming it's done well and its challenging. A permadeath option is mandatory!

@Karolius: Playing "Find the Bigot" is like playing Pre-K difficulty "Where's Waldo?". Found it!

@gwugg2000: Not as easy as playing "find the Democrat." They're easy to spot, just follow the trail of Bernie Sanders signs and welfare applications.

@Karolius: Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat. ME is my favorite series of all time and the way it was handled there was perfect; they got "their" message across but it didn't interfere with the gameplay.....DA:I was butchered with their political message....would take a lot for me to return to any Bioware game.

@Daelusca: Seems like you've never played a Bioware game before and simply are hoping on the "social outcry" train against "social outcry". The only message is not to be a silly, hate-filled person...put down the ropes and gasoline.

Beware has been writing gay characters before you were aware of Fox News.

@magnusstorm: lmfao...never played Bioware? Care to compare gamerscore on their titles? Be a little more diligent in your reading as it doesn't appear to be your forte. I specifically said in their previous games their dealings with homosexuality was always present but dealt with as a small/ inconsequential part of a story (Kelly for instance); DA:I turned what was a small, but important to someone, message and turned it into a full-on crusade.

I wouldn't. But there probably are a lot of people that would. Few games do that well nowadays...

Hells yeah!

But only if it is not a mobile game. And if it is, not a game where you have to pay real money for "energy" or some crap like that. I hate that. It should be a real game.

Turn based strategy > Live action.

But chances are they just plan to use the Dragon Age title and put it in a f2p mobile game. So f that.

@hughthehand88: Turnbased and real time games have existed side by side for decades. I don't see why anyone needs to be insulted for like one over the other. Respecting opinions seem too hard for you.

@Jag-T1000: chess is still around and its about a thousand times slower. its not a game for brain dead twitch addicted people who want instant gratification. you actually have to think and then think ahead of your opponent.

I would as soon as EA makes the DA:O DLC for PC cheaper than the Entire GOTY edition. Come on EA. All the DLC should be $10 for pre existing owners.

Other than that, I welcome a Tactics version.

I've been thinking this for a while and just discussed it w/ a buddy the other night. More devs should change up the genre of a franchise/series just to keep things fresh. Sure it happens here and there, but imagine some of the possibilities.

Soul Calibur JRPG, Warcraft FPS, Dead Space 2D platformer/metroidvania, Mortal Kombat WRPG, Mass Effect 4X TBS, etc

Like Xcom? Not so much...

Which... is odd 'cause normally I'm all for modern sci-fi over fantasy.

@_Binx_: As a percentage of population blacks actually slightly out-game whites relative to their demographic footprint.

Studies indicate blacks, Hispanics and those in lower socioeconomic groups play, spend more time, and buy more video games than other groups.

According to The Kaiser Family Foundation, African American youth between the ages of 8 and 18 play games 30 minutes more per day than white youth, while Hispanics play an average of 10 minutes more.

So while I know facts bother people like you and racists stereotyping, the facts are facts. Blacks buy more games. They play more games. And women game just as much as men, if not more. So in reality, despite all Social Justice Warrior clowns who keep bashing white men for 'dominating' gaming, the reality is far different. Gaming is, and will always be, an equal opportunity venue.

@DraconisRex: Women "game" more if you consider Candy crush-like mobile games, which I don't think offers useful information when dealing with PC/console gaming development.
They play on their phones because they are attached to them. The game they play matters less than the fact that it is on their phone... Those games are not "introductory". People don't go from playing those games to "I should buy a PS4 and sit down to play games".
The more gamers the better, but I wouldn't consider someone who plays solitaire a gamer unless they are actually interested in the gaming scene and buy/play other games regularly.

@DraconisRex: When people complain about bw having gone sjw, they aren't complaining that bioware too heavily caters to blacks or latinos. They're complaining that Bioware games are in your face about being pro-LGBT.

@manoogian: Used to. The last game they made I actually enjoyed from start to finish was ME2. SWTOR was horrible and I was one of the 1.6 million idiots who bought it then watched crash, burn and die in the first month. ME3 pretty much retconned and crapped on the entire story and lore as it was developed into some Giant Space McGuffin and Deus Ex Machina ending. DAII was awful and hastily thrown together to exploit DA:O (which was a fantastic game despite some issues). DA:I was so grindy I never finished it.

And was such a BioWare fanboy too. BG. BG:SoA. NWN. NWN:Undrentide NWN:HotU. Jade Empire. Even bought an XBOx so I could play Jade Empire.
