BioShock Infinite DLC adding new AI companion?

LinkedIn profile of 2K Games dev suggests first expansion for action-shooter will add new AI companion character.

BioShock Infinite's first downloadable content expansion may add a new artificial intelligence (AI) companion character. A 2K Games developer has listed "DLC1" on his LinkedIn page (via Superannuation), with work including "animation and R&D for a new AI companion character."

No Caption Provided

No further details about this character were divulged and an Irrational Games representative was not immediately available to comment.

Elizabeth is the main AI character in BioShock Infinite. It is unclear how this new character, if it is added to the game, would affect Elizabeth's role in the game.

BioShock Infinite's $20 DLC season pass includes three expansions for the first-person shooter, said to provide "hours" of additional gameplay and include new stories, characters, abilities, and weapons.

Why are they even bothering with DLC for this crap!? Bioshock Infinite is worthless! Just another bland, boring, generic FPS for the zombie-like fan-base that's trained to by whatever crap gets pulled out from Irrational Games's bowel. I'd have a better time playing around with the DirecTV menu than with this game.

@hekifier it seems this game is very marmite for some people. after playing through it on 1999mode i got to like it more, and found there was a bunch of additional tactics involved with vigors.

if you dont like it you'll hate it - if you like it you love it.

@hekifier i liked the game , but you are sooo right about the zombie like fan base.

On my second playthrough i realized how generic some of this was. Ken levine did the best job of promoting this game , i was laughing at peoples reactions, some people even began quoting levine ect

Truth is , the hype grabbed peoples minds. thanks to gamespot and many other gaming sites who also jumped in. Some good youtube commentators jumped to how ridicilous the hype was around the game. And some of the reviewers made me laugh too, adam sessler seemed over dramatic to me. As if levine was standing opposite him when he did the review.

My biggest problem was that I saw the big endgame "reveals" coming clearly less than 3 hours in. My only reason to continue playing beyond that point was an irritating hatred of leaving things unfinished.

@hekifier I totally agree. It's the one game this year I really feel I wasted my money on. It looks pretty on the surface but the story is ridiculous, the character script makes me cringe and the boss fights are the worst I've seen in any game. I got to the 2nd round of fighting with the ghost mommy and that was all I could take. I wiped it. A shame it's tied to my steam account.

I fully expect the expansions to be post-game content. I HIGHLY doubt they'll mess with the basic game.

Seems pretty obvious to me that the first DLC pack is going to focus on 'Vox Populi Booker' in an alternate dimension. He specifically says how he has vague memories of him and Slate being alongside one another during the rebellion.

expansions should give more weapons, more upgrade, stronger bigger badder bosses. new buildings to go through. maybe an online dlc would be crazy. a co-op competition(like arcade mode) so on and so on.

@Nzilla It's going to be DLC that is entirely separate from the campaign. Stop crying.

@ShadowsDemon @Nzilla What a strange world we live in where people fight against completely OPTIONAL extra content.

Stop being such selfish idiots. If you don't like it, don't buy it- in other words, it has no affect on you in its existence so stop complaining as others will want it.

I wonder how long this DLC will take. If it's anything like Dishonored we won't see it for 6 to 8 months putting it well into next year. Hopefully that means I don't have to rush out and get a new console knowing this will be coming out.

they got some big shoes to fill if it is going to replace Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is already maybe the best companion A.I character in gaming history. 2nd maybe to yoshi! lmao

But im sure non-the less they will make a great story because irrational games hit it out of the park with Bioshock..plus it's all optional.

Next DLC companion will be Leonardo DiCaprio. Together with Elizabeth they'll take you to a dimension within a dimension that's within a dream within a dream THAT'S INSIDE ANDREW RYANS HEAD!!!

Elizabeth was already the perfect companion character, trying to add in another character is only going to ruin what they have.

Hmm...I think I'll wait for all the DLC to come out before judging what to buy and when to start my second playthrough. To be honest though, I'm just hoping they don't mess up what they've already accomplished...

@Dumper1 Must be great being that cynical. Extra content is a good thing most of the time and you don't always have to think it was cut from the original game just because some companies have done it in the past. Would you be this cynical if an expansion for the game came out a year later, or is there some kind system you use to determine if DLC really is new content?

@Dumper1 So because one or two developers you've heard of has pre-developed DLC content intentionally and not put it in the original release you assume everyone in the industry does it?

There really is no reason to even attempt arguing with that kind of attitude.

@Dumper1 Irrational Game hasn't cut anything to put it into DLC. The game that is out now IS the complete game.

Ken Levine specifically stated that they would be using no pre-developed assets.

Rumour has it the 2nd DLC will have lots of extra bins. I think we can all agree that there were not enough of them to search in the game.

The 3rd DLC will introduce a bin man companion called Bob. He comes with a "bin search" skill. With all those extra bins introduced in DLC 2, you'll wish they had released DLC 3 sooner.

I wonder what they will do with the tear mechanic. Introducing someone else who can open tears would diminish Elizabeth's uniquness. Not having it would limit gameplay options.
