Acclaimed Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC first-person shooter BioShock is now available for an entirely new platform. 2K Games today announced that the iOS version of BioShock revealed last month is now available to download through iTunes for $15

BioShock for iOS devices brings the "full experience" of the original game to mobile devices, and includes touch controls and Bluetooth game controller support. We got to try the game out last month with both control styles, and you can read our impressions here.

Overall, 2K describes BioShock for iOS as a "true AAA gaming experience." The game features Game Center support, and is compatible with iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad 4, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, and the iPhone 5. It will not work on earlier devices.

BioShock was originally released in 2007 for Xbox 360 and PC, while the PlayStation 3 version followed the next year. The most recent entry in the series was last year's BioShock Infinite, which was developed by Irrational Games and has shipped close to 7 million units.

Following the effective closure of Irrational Games earlier this year, it was announced that future installments in the series would be developed by 2K Marin. No new titles have been announced, but parent company Take-Two believes the BioShock series still has a lot of life left in it.
