Now Playing: Bill And Ted 3: Face The Music - Announcement

Keanu Reeves might be best known these days for his lead role in the John Wick series, or a surprise role in Cyberpunk 2077, but it was the Bill & Ted movies that made him a star. It's been 27 years since Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, but Reeves has reunited with co-star Alex Winter for the upcoming third movie, Bill & Ted Face The Music. Some new images have been released.

The film has started production, and the images show new cast members Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine, who are playing the daughters of the now middle-aged metal-loving pals. They were posted by co-writer Ed Soloman, who states that the comparison pictures of Weaving and Lundy-Paine with the young Reeves and Winter are on the wall of the production office. In a nice touch, Bill and Ted have named their kids after each other--Billie and Thea. Check it out below:

[Update: Further adding to the casting news, we've learned who will play the movie's villain. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Carrigan has joined the movie on the heels of his success on Barry, where he plays NoHo Hank.]

After years of rumors that Winter and Reeves might return for a third movie, in March the pair confirmed Bill & Ted Face the Music was finally happening. They recorded a short video thanking the fans for their dedication to the series and announcing that the movie would start shooting this summer.

Bill & Ted Face the Music hits theaters on August 21 2020, and is directed by Galaxy Quest's Dean Parisot. Solomon created the series with Chris Matheson, and the pair have written this one too. William Sadler is also set to return to the cast, reprising his Bogus Journey role as the Grim Reaper.

As for what the plot of the film will be, it was revealed by Solomon in January 2018 that the story finds Bill and Ted in the modern day, as family men that go back in time to revisit their younger selves, using footage from the original film.

The creativity is just bursting at the seams here. They cast two girls who have a little resemblance to the actors. Wow, amazing.

Then, in the ultimate spin of genius, they name the one Billie, and the other Thea. Mind blown.

@uninspiredcup: You mean the masterpiece? The perfect mockery fandom movie that is pretty much the definition of perfection? Galaxy Quest is a masterpiece, and it doesn't get much clearer.

Why are you still talking about this small movie from 1999 anyways? Oh please, explain... Ill wait...

I mean ffs: Galaxy Quest is not only, easily the best movie in its genre, its one of the funniest movies ever made.

Alan Rickman's "by Gribthars hammer, what a savings..." scene when they are cutting the ribbon toward the beginning... how many comedy movie scenes since 1999 have surpassed this scene? Not many!

Holy balls did you pick the wrong movie to mess with.

@blowfish82: it did horrible at the box office, has a horrid rating on almost every reputable movie critic website, and you think its one of the best movies ever made? lol

@budah78: Obviously not a reddit user. You really dont get a "society" point of view do you?

The movie is probably the most successful and now popular cult classic of all time. It bombed at the box office because no one knew how to market it properly.

Movie is sheer brilliance and yes, one of the funniest comedies of all time. Top 5.

Do your homework before commenting next time moron.

and edit: Do I need to link to the 90% it got on Rotten Tomatoes? Do you know HOW MANY COMEDIES get above 90 on Rotten Tomatoes?

@blowfish82: uncle buck, mrs doubtfire, caddyshack, spaceballs. thats just a few. go away now troll

@budah78: In the "age" of Rotten Tomatoes. Anyone with brain 1 knows that many famous movies that came out BEFORE RT EXISTED have really scewered reviews.

Galaxy Quest came out when RT was in infancy so it has 117 reviews.

So Ill ask again: What other comedy has gotten 90 percent or above on RT since it was made? Go ahead. Oh, and PS:

Uncle Buck: 61%

Mrs. Doubtfire: 71%

Caddyshack: 74%

Spaceballs: 58%

YOU are the definition of a plebeian. Go watch your fart joke comedies Ill watch something much smarter.

Bill & Ted did not make Keanu Reeves a star, Babes in Toyland did.
