Last year saw Microsoft team up with Aussie subscription TV provider Foxtel to bring selected TV channels and content over to the Xbox 360. Whilst the launch went smoothly and has since chugged along without a hitch, its 800MB of download per hour of TV was a sore point for many contenders. Adding salt to the wound, Microsoft launched the service without any Internet service providers willing to offer it unmetered.

Microsoft has now announced that, from today, Foxtel on the Xbox 360 will be streamed unmetered for Telstra BigPond customers. Additionally, six BigPond TV channels will be added to the service, ranging from sports channels to the news.

AFL and NRL fans will also be pleased to hear that, from June, the remaining games in the 2011 seasons of both leagues will also be offered on the Catch Up video-on-demand channel. Additionally, next year Foxtel will start broadcasting live AFL games to Xbox 360 via Foxtel from the start of the 2012 season.

The six BigPond TV channels being added to the Foxtel on Xbox 360 service include: Footy TV
League TV
V8 TV
Racing TV
