Biggest Ubisoft Forward Announcements: New Games, Returning Characters, And More

Ubisoft Forward featured details on games like Watch Dogs Legion, Immortals: Fenyx Rising, and much more.

The second Ubisoft Forward for 2020 was held on September 10 and featured some big new game announcements, including the return of some classic characters. It also included surprises, such as a new massively multiplayer online extreme sports IP. You can re-watch it here and learn all about what was shown.

Before the event took place, Ubisoft released a video statement from CEO Yves Guillemot addressing news that has come to light in recent months about sexual assault, harassment, and mistreatment among the publisher's studios. However, Ubisoft explained that this would not air during the Ubisoft Forward stream itself due to "timing constraints." Instead, it will be attached to the video-on-demand version of the stream.

Ubisoft Forward Games And Announcements

Far Cry VR

Ubisoft is releasing a location-based VR game for Far Cry, and it features the return of Vaas from the third game. It won't be available to play at home, and will instead be playable at Zero Latency locations. There are several across the United States and in other countries.

The Division 2

The Division 2 is getting a new mode called The Summit, exclusive to Warlords of New York owners. This new mode tasks players with climbing up a skyscraper for a climactic battle on the top level. It will be one of the most challenging missions in the game, but there are multiple difficulty levels to choose from. The update also includes a mission to track down a high-ranking Black Tusk official, continuing story threads from the main campaign.

The game formerly known as Gods and Monsters is now sporting a new name: Immortals: Fenyx Rising. The trailer we saw showed off a variety of monsters you'll be fighting, as well as some special powers and blades you'll be able to wield. Combat will be fast-paced and acrobatic, bearing more resemblance to Devil May Cry than Zelda. You'll also be able to fully customize your own version of Fenyx. The game is out on December 3 and we've played it--you can watch us talk about our hands-on impressions with the game.

The acclaimed action-adventure game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is being remade for modern consoles. It retains the classic rewinding mechanics and platforming of the first version, but with a modern coat of paint. The Prince of Persia series had been mostly dormant for about a decade. Footage shown from the game during the presentation is from its alpha stage. It's coming out on January 2021.

Hyper Scape

Hyper Scape is getting a new limited-time mode that puts everyone at max level for loot, gives them faster health regeneration, and faster crown victories. Turbo Mode is available starting September 15. The game is free now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Rainbow Six Siege

Alongside announcing the Rainbow Six Siege World Cup for summer 2021, Ubisoft brought Sam Fisher to the game as a permanent addition for the new season. Sam's abilities allow him to quickly strike from the shadows, and he has access to some of the same gear that he does in the Splinter Cell games. The game supports 4K and 120 frames per second on Xbox Series X and PS5.

Watch Dogs Legion is out next month, and Ubisoft revealed that the artist Stormzy will be participating as a playable character in the game. The game's themes of speaking truth to power fit with his songwriting and ethos, as well as the London setting. He will have his own "Fall On My Enemies" mission in the game, as well. Aiden Pearce from the original game will also be fully playable as part of the season pass, and there will be a standalone DLC focused on him.

The last surprise-announcement for the show was Riders Republic, an extreme sports game. Showcased with a very short trailer, the game is an MMO developed by Steep studio Ubisoft Annecy. You'll be able to do everything from mountain biking to skiing, and you'll be on a variety of terrain including mountains, snow, and sand. It will be available on current-gen and next-gen platforms on February 25, 2021.

Well for me, I can't wait for Summit and TU11 for The Division 2. Still got lots to complete with the current content and still enjoying this game.

Will be playing Watch Dogs: Legion too, but should get that free with my new Graphics Card soon, so that's useful. Still not completed Watch Dogs 2; one of those games that got put in my never-ending back log lol.

I'm extremely looking forward to Far Cry 6, but I will leave that hype for next year :)

I wonder why people still want a Splinter Cell game from the current Ubisoft. Have you not seen what they've done with their Tom Clancy games? They can't even give us a proper Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon or even a sequel to Endwar anymore. Ubisoft struggled with the direction of the Splinter Cell series ever since SC: Conviction was released. They'll probably streamline the next iteration to death, as a true (single-player) strategical/tactical military game would be very niche in the modern age and won't sell well with the masses/casuals.

The best we can hope for is a remaster or remake of the older games.

They won me over with that Scott pilgrim rerelease. Then stomped it out with that lazier than hell remake of Prince of Persia. I mean it looks good. But, not Late PS4/Xbox 1 good.

The rest was trash.

No Splinter Cell, no Skull and Bones, and No Beyond Good and Evil 2? No money from me Ubisoft.

Hell, they couldn't even be bothered to do the full PoP trilogy like they should have and we're still yet to get a real Rainbow have to rectify the mistake that was the multiplayer-only Siege.

Sam Fisher has popped up in multiple Ubisoft games the past few years, and yet still no announcement of any Splinter Cell in the near or distant future. I am sad.

Immortals doesn't look too shabby. Doesn't look to be anything groundbreaking, but looks enjoyable.

In general, it’s sad the new game in such important series like Prince of Persia was developed by two unknown studios from India without strong portfolio own projects.

Yeah, I know its studios are part of Ubisoft family but... Why has Ubi given series to them? I’d like to get a new PoP-game was developed Ubisoft Montreal, for example.

In other hand, I’m glad to get a new game despite it’s just remake of Sand of Time. It’s too long we haven’t got something new in franchise.

Immortals looks like at one point and time this was a Prince of Persia game that eventually turned to have "Gods and Monsters" in it and they decided to once again give the prince the shaft.

And after so much inspiration from that character, Ubisoft ended up giving us a poorly made remaster from a very old game.

I've had my eye on (what is now) Immortals for a while and while I'm not blown away by it, I'm not turned away by it either. Looks like something I could play someday at a discounted price.....

I was excited for Prince of Persia but expecting something with more realistic graphics. It looked so outdated. They'd better had a reboot rather than a remake. Plus no Splinter Cell again is another let down.

Not too impressed. Basically the game info Ubisoft announced earlier this year with not much being new information. Sam Fisher in RSS? In my opinion, Big whoop. Borefest.
