Michel Ancel has released another piece of artwork that looks a lot like it could be from Beyond Good & Evil 2. The image was posted on his Instagram page and is of an anthropomorphic shark. You may remember these characters were featured prominently in the first game. Most notable among them was Rufus, a hovercraft racer that hung out at the Akuda bar.

Accompanying the image is a caption that reads "Ready for the fight, independence #ubisoft day." This is likely a reference to Ubisoft's shareholder meeting scheduled for today. It has been speculated that Vivendi, which has been acquiring shares in Ubisoft, could attempt to secure seats on its board of directors during this.

This is the second piece of Beyond Good & Evil 2-like artwork that Ancel has posted this week. On September 27 he published an image of male engineer-type character, which fans have speculated is the father of the first game's protagonist, Jade. On his shoulder is a pig, which is believed to be a young Pey'j.

At E3 2016, Ubisoft chief executive Yves Guillemot confirmed Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still alive, but didn't outright confirm it's in active development or when we'd see it get revealed.

"It's difficult to say," Guillemot said. "Michel is working on it, but he's doing two games at the same time--he's doing Wild at the same time. It's coming along, but he has to spend more time on it, so we can see it faster."

More recently, speaking in an interview with GameSpot, Guillemot explained why Ubisoft isn't rushing to show the game.

"It's not only the desires that are important, it's can our team come up with something that will be a revolution," he said. "You don't just want Beyond Good & Evil 2, you want a fantastic Beyond Good & Evil 2. You don't want us to bring it back as something that isn't perfect. That's a challenge we're facing; we have to come back with something crazy and something that will be great."

It may be, however, that the game is discussed during the shareholder meeting today. GameSpot will bring you the news as it happens.
