Better Call Saul Star Bob Odenkirk Has No Idea How The Show Ends, And That's On Purpose

Despite being the star and producer of Better Call Saul, Bob Odenkirk is in the dark about where the show and his character are headed for its upcoming sixth and final season.

He told Jimmy Kimmel that he is purposefully avoiding the key details for season 6 because he enjoys the element of surprise just like a viewer would have.

Asked if series creator Vince Gilligan has told him how Better Call Saul ends, Odenkirk replied directly, "He has not."

Odenkirk--who was given makeup and crutches for the interview segment to promote his new movie Nobody--added: "I don't know what's going to happen. I like being surprised. I enjoy it like an audience member. Where this story goes--it's always surprising."

The actor went on to say that Gilligan and others have attempted to tell him how the show ends and what happens to Jimmy/Saul, but he's having none of it.

"I go, 'Shut up! I don't want to know!'" he said. "It's perfectly fine with me. I prefer to find out and be surprised."

Odenkirk also confirmed that, at the time he taped his interview with Kimmel, he had filmed one episode of the final season of Better Call Saul. There will be 10 episodes in all.

Before this, Odenkirk teased that Better Call Saul season six will have a dramatic conclusion with lots of violence, which is to be expected given how season 5 wrapped up. We know Jimmy/Saul survives, because he goes on to appear in the Breaking Bad timeline, but how he gets there remains a mystery. Better Call Saul also features black-and-white flash-forward episodes that reveal more about Saul's life in witness protection after the events of Breaking Bad, so fans will be intrigued to see what else may come from those in season 6.

Odenkirk is currently making the rounds to promote his new movie, Nobody, an action film where he plays an unassuming man who becomes an ass-kicking action hero. We recently got to see a behind-the-scenes video showing Odenkirk getting in shape and practicing to perform his own stunts in the film under the guidance of John Wick's David Leitch.

While Better Call Saul may be ending with Season 6, AMC has ordered an animated spinoff called Slippin' Jimmy and a new season of the Employee Training mini-series.
