Best Video Game Writing Nominees Announced, See Them All Here

Madden 18 and Horizon: Zero Dawn are among them.

The Writers Guild of America has announced its nominees for best video game writing for 2017, with Madden NFL 18, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and others making the list.

A Madden game getting a writing nomination may sound odd. But this year's game has a story-focused mode called Longshot featuring Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali. It tells the twisting and turning story of a football player's pursuit to make it to the NFL. The mode was one of our favourite parts of this year's game.

The other nominees this year for "Outstanding Achievement in Video Game Writing" include Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow. You can see a full rundown of this year's nominees and their credited writers below, as posted on the WGA's website.

Any game released in the time between December 1, 2016 and November 30, 2017 was eligible for the Outstanding Achievement in Video Game Writing award. However, the game needed to have on-screen credits and the credited writers must have already been or applied to be a member of the WGA Video Game Writers Caucus when the scripts were submitted.

The winners will be announced on Sunday, February 11. Panels comprised of video game writers and Writers Guild members will vote to determine the winner.
