Every Wednesday is new comic book day and hundreds of comic books hit local comic shops and the digital market. While many readers pick books based on the creative teams involved or the stories and characters contained within, each comic is trying its best to grasp the consumer's attention with its cover.

Each week, we will be highlighting some of the best comic book cover art from the past week's releases and discussing the artists involved. Here's what caught our eye this week.

Marvel has been creating a lot of Deadpool variant covers which take on infamous Internet memes and All-New Wolverine #4 was one of the funniest ones this week, taking on the Batman slapping Robin meme. Tom Raney and Chris Sotomayor put together this cover.

Artist Joshua Middleton has made a name for himself with his cover art. His cover to Catwoman #48 this week was a real standout by giving readers a moment of action. There's a lot of great detail here, and if you enjoyed this, check out what's coming up from him for issue #49.

Here is Black Knight #3 by Tim Bradstreet. This artist has a distinct style which bridges the gap between comics and reality, almost presenting a very surreal image of Black Knight riding on a horse. The shading and color work are outstanding on this cover as well.

The set-up for this cover may look very familiar. This is The Walking Dead #150 by Tony Moore and it's modeled after Moore's work on The Walking Dead #1. Rick Grimes, as seen on the cover, has changed quite a bit in 150 issues of this series, which includes losing a hand.

During the recent mini-series, Chrononauts, written by Mark Millar and drawn by Sean Murphy, there were quite a few variant covers modeled after famous movie posters. That tradition continues here with Huck #3 by Rafael Albuquerque. The cover pays homage to the classic film The Blues Brothers.

Finally, Secret Wars #9 by Alex Ross rounds out the list this week. The final chapter in Marvel's summer event is capped off with the realistic art from Ross, who has Reed Richards and Doctor Doom squaring off. Iconic moments in Marvel's history are featured around the characters as well, giving the reader a lot to look at.

That's it for this week. If there's a cover you loved, let us know.
