Sound Source Interactive, publisher of children's interactive software for consoles and PC, will release "Extreme Sports with The Berenstain Bears" for the Game Boy Color. Based on the popular Berenstain Bears books, "Extreme Sports" is the first game produced under the four-year agreement between Sound Source and Signature Network.

The game is being developed by Magnin & Associates, who has worked on other Game Boy Color titles such as Arthur's Absolutely Fun Day, Wings of Fury, and Caesar's Palace. In the game the Bear family competes in extreme events to earn Olympic-style medals. As the Berenstain Bears go for gold they must compete in six different events in the snow, the river, and dirt while battling gravity and rocky terrain. Individual events include sledding, dirt bike riding, freestyle kayaking, and dirt boarding. The team events, tobogganing and rafting, are for the entire Berenstain Bear family. The fastest and most skillful player will earn the title of extreme sports champion.

"The Berenstain Bears enjoy one of the highest levels of brand awareness in the family entertainment market," said Vincent Bitetti, chairman and interim chief executive officer for Sound Source Interactive. "The Berenstain Bears books are the longest selling continuous children's book series in the world, and we look forward to bringing these fun-loving characters to life in a new medium."

The game is targeted to children from ages 5 through 8 and will be released in Q4 2000.
