BC E3 2003 Preshow Report

Head back to prehistoric times in Microsoft's new adventure.

Comments

BC is a third-person action adventure game coming from Microsoft and the Lionhead Studios satellite developer known as Intrepid Computer Entertainment.

The game puts you in command of a prehistoric clan engaged in a battle for survival. The early days of man were a pretty rough time, and you'll be taking on prehistoric creatures while you explore and embark on a quest for knowledge and new technologies.

The game's battle sequences are described as brutal affairs, with removable heads and limbs and pools of congealing blood. You'll be hunting for food, but you aren't at the top of the food chain just yet, so you'll have to contend with other predators, such as saber-toothed tigers and velociraptors.

You'll be able to use lots of environmental objects as tools or weapons. You can trick foes into eating poisonous plants, lead enemies into an avalanche, or even pick up objects like sticks and rock shards and wield them in combat. Weather will play a role in your quest, as you'll have to protect your tribe from the elements to keep them all healthy.

You'll be given options for the evolution of your tribe, as you get to choose which members of your tribe get to breed. You'll breed different units, such as hunters, mystics, fighters, and more.

BC is currently scheduled for release in the spring of 2004.
