Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam drops in December

Shooter's $15 expansion pack comes to PC Dec. 18, hitting consoles on Dec. 21; VIP Map Pack 7 dropping tomorrow.

No Caption Provided Electronic Arts has finally done away with the vague "winter 2010" release window for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam, the shooter's latest expansion pack. The content will arrive on the PC (through Steam and the EA Store) on December 18 and on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on December 21.

The $15 multiplayer expansion pack will allow players of the contemporary military shooter to take a trip back in time to the Vietnam War, which raged from the mid-1960s to early 1970s. It will consist of four maps, including the rice fields of the Phu Bai Valley and the napalm-kissed wasteland of Hill 137. The Vietnam expansion will also pack in a number of period-specific weapons, including the Navy SEAL XM22 machine gun.

The expansion will also feature all-new dialogue based on actual Vietnam War radio chatter, as well as eight radio channels with nearly 50 tracks. The selection of songs will range from Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son" to Richard Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries."

In addition to nailing down a release date for Vietnam, EA today announced a release date for VIP Map Pack 7. Launching tomorrow, December 1, the downloadable content packs in the original Battlefield: Bad Company maps Oasis and Harvest Day, as well as Heavy Metal and Cold War, two new environments taken from Bad Company 2's single-player campaign. Map Pack 7 will be free for PC players and console players who redeemed their VIP code, which comes with all new copies of the game.
