No Caption Provided

Second Assault features four "fan-favorite" maps from Battlefield 3 updated using the Frostbite 3 engine. The content was announced during Microsoft's E3 2013 presentation and will be featured in the upcoming Battlefield 4: Showdown event.

The expansion is one of five add-ons for Battlefield 4 included with the $50 Battlefield 4 Premium membership. Members receive access to all Battlefield 4 expansions two weeks ahead of non-subscribers, and also get priority position in server queues and exclusive double XP events, among other bonuses.

Battlefield 4 launches on October 29 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The PlayStation 4 version arrives on November 12, while the Xbox One iteration hits November 19. A beta for the game began last week and runs through October 15.

Typical M$ timed exclusive BS... The worse part is they've influenced Sony to start doing the same with their "exclusive content". If the game devs didn't have to make all these "exclusive" pieces, they could spend more time making the original game better.

It just better not be like COD, waiting months for new maps on PS & PC.

I stopped buying COD after Black Ops btw, I'm not part of the problem!

Sony have to follow Microsoft, otherwise, the Big M will capture all dlcs for multi platform games.

Sony have no choice.

If it's ready at launch, how is it a DLC. Include it in the fucking game instead of cutting it from the main game and selling it as "bonus" or "dlc".

**** what the gaming industry has become.

Not buying this bf 3.1 until I see the ultimate super complete goty gosu BBQ sauce edition at 20$ anyways.

@allever @telmor84 @jack00 So your saying people who have a strong opinion have a mental age of between 8 and 12. Since that is the definition of a Moron. Are you sure its not your own flaws you insist on hiding.

@mack04 @telmor84 @jack00 you get 4 dlc's, like in any other package. i really don't get why you're complaining. if you subscribed to any season pass ever this is nothing but good news.

@anvilone Entirely agreed, BC2 maps > every map in BF3 and better than siege of shanghai. So bored of Shanghai already.

@Grenadeh @anvilone Remember though how everybody was sick of Metro after the BF3 Beta? And yet, one year later it was the most popular map. Ha ha ha! I think it would be funny if that happened with Shanghai...although I doubt it.

@anvilone We would prob all like that, but I suspect only half of each map would be destructible and it would reveal how far the game has fallen since BC2.

@ender707 @anvilone Even with destruction being a shell of its former self, the *shape* of those maps was more engaging. Not just a circular.

@anvilone @LS-Chaos Could not agree more. Battlefield is about a lot of things, but the destruction BC2 added made it that every game was full of surprises. BF3 and for what Ive seen and played BF4 are a step forward in technology, but a huge step backwards in just plain FUN

@LS-Chaos Completely disagree about BC2 maps, and destruction was an amazing step forward in BC2, followed by two steps back. I agree that Battlefield is *more* than that feature, but that feature was amazing.

@ender707 @anvilone No, the BC2 maps are bland and unimaginative. BF3 maps added real structure at the sacrifice of destruction, now BF4 aims to have the best of both worlds but if it will has yet to be shown.

I'm tired of half-assed Battlefield players complaining about the destruction. No offense, you might be a hardcore Battlefield players, I'm speaking in general. Battlefield is so much more than Destruction and honestly I think DICE needs to quit riding that gimmick. I love the destruction don't get me wrong, it is part of what makes Battlefield great, however Battlefield's best aspects come from in the strategic skilled based gameplay, which really does benefit some when you have structure and you can't just level an entire map. Hopefully DICE can find it's perfect balance with Battlefield 4.

@anvilone @ender707 I agree with you, the maps were much more engaging. Just don't think they will make them because of the inferior destruction.

@telmor84 @ender707 Its the way of the future, but it is a dark one. Games used to come complete, or give bonuses to the ones that purchased the game new. BC1 and 2 are not to far away on our minds, and this franchise is on the verge of becoming something else, something more CODesque. Not a good sight.

How long does it take a game to hit the shops after it is complete? 3-6 months maybe?

Do people not realize that devs are working on extra content during the gap between completion and the game hitting the shops. This means there is a lot more content available at release.

I do disagree with how much it costs tho, well over priced!

@_fark_ Dice finished the BF3 DLC over a year ago, and then trickled it out every 3 months.

Dice has been working on BF4 for almost the entire 2 years since BF3's release.... not just for the last few months since the last BF3 DLC was released. use your brain.

@wowgrandpa Somebody obviously is not using their brain!

There is a 3-6 month period it takes a game to go from the devs the the shops. During this period the devs continue to make more content. This content can not be put on the disk as the game is already being manufactured.. sooooo they release it as dlc at the release date!! The release date being the earliest possible date to release none disk content.

As well as working on this they will have other projects which has no bearing on this at all.

Use your brain.

@_fark_ @wowgrandpa It really doesn't. BF4 beta is buggy as shit and it was just released to the people. "Open beta". If there is any intention of making changes to the game based on what happens in open beta, then this game is still being worked on.

And it definitely needs work right now.

DLC is like Pokemon. You gotta catch them all. Maybe you're even content not to catch that map pack DLC, but then your friend comes over and says "Hey, check out this map pack I caught!" And suddenly you want it, because someone who isn't you now has it.

So you catch that DLC, but then you have trainer's remorse because you just wasted time hunting something you didn't actually want. So what should you do? Should you take a good, long look at your willpower and discover that your personal worth is not defined by the things you don't have? Hell no! You go up to your friend and punch him in the face for making you want that map pack in the first place.

After all, it's not your fault that you couldn't resist.

@BuiltForSin @Auriken I'm making fun of the people who whine about DLC. It's not that difficult to understand.

People are not required to buy DLC, but they act like they are. They don't have the willpower to resist buying it when someone else, probably a friend, has it and they don't. So they purchase it. But then they feel like an idiot for buying something they didn't want.

Instead of calling their own willpower into question, they blame EA for putting that temptation in front of them in the first place. Because as far as gamers are concerned, they're not responsible for their own money.
