The Second Assault digital expansion for Battlefield 4 will be available on Xbox One when the next-generation console launches on November 22, Electronic Arts has announced. The content will be released on other platforms later.

Second Assault features four "fan-favorite" maps from Battlefield 3 updated using the Frostbite 3 engine. The content was announced during Microsoft's E3 2013 presentation and will be featured in the upcoming Battlefield 4: Showdown event.

The expansion is one of five add-ons for Battlefield 4 included with the $50 Battlefield 4 Premium membership. Members receive access to all Battlefield 4 expansions two weeks ahead of non-subscribers, and also get priority position in server queues and exclusive double XP events, among other bonuses.

Battlefield 4 launches on October 29 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The PlayStation 4 version arrives on November 12, while the Xbox One iteration hits November 19. A beta for the game began last week and runs through October 15.

... and just like that, I'm reconsidering buying this, for ANY platform. Kind of annoying to pay full-price for a game, only to be treated like a second-class citizen for not paying DOUBLE.

@unreal101 It's kind of lame, yea, but it's only the PREMIUM servers that will have those server queues. And double XP is... fake XP, you're not missing anything there.

@Rage638 I'm getting BF4 when I get my PS4, but I dunno about the expansions. I wasn't impressed with the BF3 expansions. The maps were fun to play, but the content really wasn't worth the price.

@Rage638 I had such a good time with BF3 Premium so why not? I will get the vanilla MP maps, China rising DLC and single player campaign with the regular game and I will get another 16 MP maps or so plus the odd tidbits with premium. For me that is so many hours of good entertainment and well worth the cost.

Urgh. All this info on pre-ordering, season passes, DLC, blah blah blah. All this time, not one scrap of official gameplay video on the Xbox One. It just shows how the focus has shifted away from making a good product to marketing the hell out of it, so that you'll buy it regardless of quality.


I'm going to play BF4 on my PC regardless, but I'm very curious to see how next-gen will stack up.

@muffin200 well I agree to an extent that I wanna play new maps but this is a dlc pack that comes with favorite bf3 maps which I for one will love to play again on frostbite 3 engine and more destruction. I don't see any problem with that lol
