Battlefield 4 is finally getting its long awaited Squad Join feature, developer DICE has announced.

Squad Join is currently in Beta and available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It allows you to set up a squad for up to five players before joining a multiplayer game. The squad will join the game together and remain together over rounds.

“This is something we know our fans have been asking for – and something we wish we could have provided at launch – so we are now happy to present the first iteration of Squad Join,” DICE said.

DICE said that it will continue to add features and tweak Squad Join based on player feedback. It expects to release an updated version of Squad Join when it launches the Dragon’s Teeth DLC this summer.

At the moment, Squad Join only works in Battlefield 4’s base game maps in the Conquest, Team Deathmatch, Obliteration, Rush, and Domination game modes. Support for additional maps and modes will come later.

DICE also recently announced that it was deploying high-performance servers to fix the game’s lingering technical problems, and that players can now rent their own private and public servers.
