Battlefield 3 beta enlists 8.1 million
Online multiplayer test of EA DICE's upcoming military shooter yields 47 billion shots, 1.5 billion kills.
Electronic Arts shut down Battlefield 3's open multiplayer beta last week in the run-up to the game's launch on October 25 and today revealed some of the data collected during the trial window. Chief among the stats touted was that 8,125,310 people participated in Battlefield 3's multiplayer beta across the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Beyond the total number of players, EA also offered a more granular look at some of the stats gleaned from Battlefield 3's beta. Some 47 billion shots were fired during the testing phase, which began in earnest on September 29 and lasted until October 10. Those shots contributed to a large chunk of the 1.5 billion reported player deaths in the beta.
EA also said that the longest headshot was recorded from 635.6 meters away. Meanwhile, 19 million players were killed as the result of an old-fashioned knifing, and 21 million M-Com stations were destroyed.
