Battlefield 1's Next Expansion And New Updates Teased
In the Name of the Tsar expansion's full reveal coming in June.
DICE has shared new details about upcoming content for Battlefield 1, including when we'll learn all about the next expansion.
Little has been shared about the second expansion pack, In the Name of the Tsar, except that it will center around the addition of the Russian army. Today's announcement notes that there will also be the usual array of new maps, weapons, and vehicles, revealing that the full unveiling will take place at EA's E3 event, EA Play, which begins on June 10.
In the Name of the Tsar will then launch in the "late summer," which suggests an August or September release. You can see a piece of concept art for it above.
There's other new content to come between now and then. The Nivelle Nights map that was previously shown off will launch in June for owners of the Battlefield 1 season pass, and a new map, Prise de Tahure, will soon be tested on CTE servers.
"Set in the autumn after the Nivelle Offensive, Prise de Tahure sees French troops desperately holding on to re-captured heights in the Butte-de-Tahure region," the official description states. "The frontline trench networks cut right through several villages facing obliteration from the constant skirmishing between German stormtroopers and French raiders. This is a war of attrition. Adaptability and tactics are the means to wear your adversary down."
Prise de Tahure will makes its debut on the CTE "shortly." There's no word on when it will come to the full game.
Finally, there's the next monthly update, which is due out sometime in May. Full details on its contents are still to come, but DICE says that it "brings further improvements to the game. Fans of Operations will be extra pleased by this update; expect playlists for the mode and easier access to get quickly into the action."
We'll report back as more information about the update is announced. The big Spring update only released just last week and featured a very welcome new feature for Medics.
