Battlefield 1942 expansion announced

EA confirms that it has an expansion, The Road to Rome, in the works for early 2003.

Confirming a 2897500report from earlier this week , EA Games has announced that it has a multiplayer expansion pack for Battlefield 1942 coming early next year. The expansion, titled The Road to Rome, will include six new multiplayer maps that focus on the WWII operations in Italy.

Those who play Battlefield 1942 for the vehicles will be pleased to learn that the expansion will include six new controllable vehicles. The Road to Rome will have the German BF-110 and the British Mosquito twin-engine fighter-bombers, as well as Italian, British, and German tanks and antitank guns. New infantry weapons include the Italian Breda assault rifle, the British Sten SMG, and bayonets on rifles. Two additional fighting forces, the free French and the Italians, will be added, with all the appropriate player models and voices.
