Battlefield 1 releases next month, and some Reddit users are reporting that the WWI game has been pre-loaded onto their Xbox One systems, revealing the game's file size.

NeoGAF user Theorry echoed the news with a screenshot (below). In addition to any launch day patches, Battlefield 1 will take up 42.6 GB of space on your Xbox One.

EA released a new trailer today that shows off the game's single-player campaign. The mode will feature multiple playable characters, including the Bedouin woman warrior who was first seen in the very first trailer revealed.

Battlefield 1 releases for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 21. Players can play the game two weeks early if they're subscribed to EA/Origin Access, but it's important to note that the content is limited. You can only play it for 10 hours and there are only five maps and four modes (as opposed to the full game's nine maps and six modes). Early access to Battlefield 1 is also available if you purchase a Deluxe edition of the game, which gets you into the full game three days early on October 18.

first problem with current consoles. They don't bring near enough memory, 2 having to buy your own external hard drive is also an expense and they are not cheap especially considering that 1TB is nothing nowdays. Not only that but it takes FOREVER to install the games. Lets also take into account that a lot of ISPS put data caps. There seriously needs to be a new way to play physical games out of the box without having to do this install effing B$. Memory cards, cartridges, make a proprietary way if you need to just effing do it. Sick of this $*^t.

@xspartanx3x: Not cheap? You can get a 3 TB external on Amazon for $90. That's pretty cheap... I do agree with the install times; they are horrendously slow.

So with all of the map packs, it will be like a 150 GB?

Every time I read something about battlefield, then the main theme of it plays inside my head over and over but with cats meowing it.... so annoying...

@phili878: lol i know what you mean. They are just getting lazy now with the install size of these latest AAA games though. There is no way it should be that large when you don't even get the full game and have to download dlc seperately. They just use Bluray knowing it has tons of space so they no longer have to be efficient in conserving space compared to before.

So we are already at capacity on bluerays. Lol.

@sadistfriends: Didn't take long at all - mines all pre loaded now :) !! And even if it did its not going to take 2 weeks !!

@sadistfriends: I think the whole point of pre loading any game has gone over your head !! .. and if you are not getting the Game how can you return it if it sucks?

Avatar image for penkowalski

@sadistfriends: Yet, people are still pre-loading the game no matter the pointless comment you made.

You're so pathetic. Just go away.

That ridiculous 10 mb hellfighter pack. Definitely just a single code that unlocks things already in the main game.

Avatar image for _Silent_Jay_

@siritokakyou: Nah, 10 mb is a little too big for just a key. It's probably just a weapon and/or uniform skin. They aren't particularly big if they don't require any special animations or audio, especially audio.

I couldn't care less about file sizes, I want to know the resolution. I do not support Dice on Xbox because all their games are 720p, a resolution standard that came out 12+ years ago. I only own their games on PS4

@kopesettik: don't blame dice for the lack of power in xbox one's hardware =S

I've never quite understood why this is really all that important/newsworthy. Do people really care that much about the file size of a game? If so, why?

Avatar image for penkowalski

@otterbee: What I dont understand is why GameSpot continue to credit NeoGaf.

They're such a pathetic SonyPony group.

Avatar image for plus_1

@smokerob79: Should have gotten a bigger external. I only put apps on the 500gb all games on my 3Tb external. With over 50+ games im at 21%.

Avatar image for penkowalski

@smokerob79: Whats keeping you from getting a larger drive? Life obstacles, oh noooooo.

Avatar image for smokerob79

@penkowalski: i already have 3 2tb externals......i wish i could use my network attached raid array......i have a ton of stuff on them and just need to consolidate and put everything like movies on one drive and get everything not game related off the drive im using with the console.....

@smokerob79: Tru. Youre cluttered

Avatar image for dylan35

@otterbee: seriously? There are thousands of gamers still stuck with what came in the box. So working with about only 370 gigs they go fast. Not everyone has an external drive like we all do!!

Avatar image for ltjohnnyrico

@dylan35: Then get an external drive if space is a problem ?

Avatar image for dylan35
dylan35

@ltjohnnyrico: yes you should I already have one ??

Avatar image for otterbee
Otterbee

@dylan35: OK, that's fair enough. But, this seems to be getting at the "all digital" vs. physical copy sub-groups of gamers. I'm still fine with physical copy, simply because I like the option of being able to loan/trade games among friends. If someone is going "all in" on digital, I would think they would take this into consideration; which makes it reasonable to want to know what the size is. I'm a games collector as well (and never sell my games), this is another reason to go the physical copy route.

Avatar image for dylan35
dylan35

@otterbee: I am a collector also so I understand. Although collecting games in boxes isn't relevant anymore. They no longer play off disc, anyone can purchase so games are no longer rare or limited..you should see my record collection ? I understand but games are no longer collectable

Avatar image for GRADERBLADE13

@dylan35: I don't know why you're surprised by the size of the game. They've been this big since before ps4 and Xbox one came out. Yeah it's shitty that the internal drives are small but it's not that big of a deal to delete a game you don't play currently

Avatar image for smokerob79
smokerob79

@GRADERBLADE13: BS.....not many games on 360 or even PS3 were ever that big.....only PC players would know about games being this big as they started showing up in 2011 for us.....

Battlefield 4 weighs in at just over 70 GB with DLC (Minus night ops and 1 other mode) on the Pony...

I'll probably delete it, as I don't see myself playing much of it after BF1 drops...

Avatar image for smokerob79

@dinosaur_teeth: wow for real???.....i have all the DLC with all the extra maps like night ops and its about 55gb on PC......i wonder what the extra 15gb was needed for???

Avatar image for dinosaur_teeth
Dinosaur_Teeth

@smokerob79: No idea... I'm looking at the File Size now and it reads 68.21GB... Memory didn't serve me correctly, but that's still 13GB extra...

Avatar image for smokerob79

@dinosaur_teeth: no matter what that its over what i have on disc for the whole game on PC........that is crazy.....oh i wonder if its something to do with the UI and server browser......on PC we need to us a normal browser like firefox or chrome to login to matches......but i dont see that taking more then a gb at most.......
