Battlefield 1 Lets EA/Origin Access Users in Early, But Content Is Limited to Start

You can start playing Battlefield 1 on October 13.

With Battlefield 1's release coming up, EA has now provided more details on the game's Xbox One and PC Play First Trial for EA/Origin Access subscribers.

A 10-hour trial for the game comes to Xbox One and PC on October 13 for EA and Origin Access subscribers, more than a week before the game becomes available publicly. There will be five maps and four modes (of the full game's nine maps and six modes) featured in the trial version to start. The full list is below. You can also check out two campaign missions, Storm of Steel and Through Mud and Blood.

No Caption Provided

As with other Play First Trials, all progress--for multiplayer and single-player--carries forward. EA/Origin Access subscribers also save 10 percent on EA digital content, so they can buy the full game for $54 instead of $60.

Additionally, everyone who plays Battlefield 1 through its Play First Trial in the October 13-20 window will get a Trench Raider dog tag. You don't have to accomplish anything to get the dog tag, as all you need to do is log in. People who play for all 10 hours before October 20 will receive a Battlepack for the full game.

Battlefield 1's Early Enlister edition, which costs $80 and comes with other add-ons, unlocks on October 18. At this time, the remaining four maps and two modes will become available to Play First Trial players, though if you've already spent 10 hours in the game by then you're out of luck.

EA Access is offered for $5/month or $30 year, while Origin Access is only available at a $5 monthly rate. No version of the subscription service is available on PlayStation 4.

Battlefield 1 Play First Trial Maps and Modes:

Maps:

  • St. Quentin Scar
  • Amiens
  • Sinai Desert
  • Fao Fortress
  • Suez
  • Empire's Edge (October 18-20 only)
  • Monte Grappa (October 18-20 only)
  • Argonne Forest (October 18-20 only)
  • Ballroom Blitz (October 18-20 only)

Modes:

  • Conquest
  • Rush
  • Operations
  • Domination
  • War Piegons (October 18-20 only)
  • Team Deathmatch (October 18-20 only)

Battlefield 1's beta attracted 13.2 million players, which set a record for an EA beta, pushing past Star Wars Battlefront's 9 million users.

Actually this is a great way to try the game if you are unsure, like me, of the game. I am a BF vet but this game felt off.... going to give it an early trial for sure!

So. It has begun. Soon we will all be paying publishers a subscription to play games + the full game price.

They are starting low to convince people of the "value". Giving you "early access" to a game that is complete and could have been released to everyone at the same time. Giving you some extras and discounts.

The way this is going, people will have a long list of monthly subscriptions.
- Netflix, Spotify, mobile internet, cable tv + home internet, game subscription, xbox live, psn and so on and on.

So, if I buy Origin Access for 1 months (at 4 euros) I can play for ten hours between 13 and 18 October. Will use up all that time before 18 October, since I will also buy the Deluxe/Ultimate Edition of the game. Then I can play all maps for an unlimited time between 18 October and 21 October (and thereafter of course).

Correct? Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I will be on vacation during most of the trial. Luckily, I'll be able to play on that Friday.

I may renew my EA Access just for this. And I mean, I'm interested in playing PvZ2 and other games as well. win-win.

That's kind of going against there service terms. They said play full games early, not demos.

@sargentpsgamer: They never said that, they've always said limited trials. Plus, these aren't demos. A demo is a vertical slice of an earlier build, not the final release.

@belmunday: No this is more like being told content is on the game, but you buy it and are told it cost extra. EA's service says in the promotion that you get to play "the game" 5 days early. Not a demo, not most of the content, the game.

@smokerob79: played both betas. Star Wars felt like a kids game, this feels like a true bf game. Best thing of all: no lock on weapons!

@Raidendude153: star wars was on sale in the first 8 months for 20 bucks for the base game......BF4 was 20 bucks in the first 12 months......i wont have to wait that long.....when origins was selling it for 20 you could find COA's online for 10 bucks on other sites......if it takes 3 years for the DLC to be free i saved 60 bucks........

@smokerob79: An ellipsis is generally three dots... Having said that, more power to you to wait but we'll all be having a blast.

Get a new job and smoke more, Rob
