Battlefield 1 Is Digital-Only on PC in North America

Electronic Arts has shared some new details on Battlefield 1's PC version. A representative for the company told PC Gamer that, in North America, Battlefield 1 will only be available digitally on PC. You can still buy a box at brick and mortar retailers, but you will only find a code in the box, not a disc.

EA will offer a disc in some international markets, however.

"Here in North America, there will be a PC box version that you can buy in stores that will have a code in the box and no disc," a spokesperson told the site. "If you buy that same PC box version Internationally, some countries will offer a disc inside."

The Amazon product page for Battlefield 1's PC edition mentions clearly that there is "no disc."

As PC Gamer points out, no disc is not that far from the status quo for many big games where you get a disc, but then download the game from Steam.

Battlefield 1 launches on October 21, though people with an EA/Origin Access membership or those who pick up the deluxe edition can get in on October 18. Additionally, a beta will be held sometime before launch.

In other news, Battlefield 1's announcement trailer is the most-liked trailer on YouTube, while Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's is the most disliked. Additionally, DICE has confirmed the game will have a server browser, while it's also been announced that some of the game is set in the Italian Alps.
