Following the debut of Battlefield 1's multiplayer component earlier today, EA and DICE have now shared new details regarding many of the new elements it introduces.

Operations are what sound like a sort of multiplayer campaign that spans multiple matches. EA says you'll "play a series of interconnected battles across multiple fronts... where your actions have consequences beyond a single match, as you try to conquer territory or push back your attackers."

There's also talk of the game's destruction, allowing you to "carve a path through walls and buildings, take down your enemies in creative ways, and leave your mark on the terrain around you through intuitive destruction."

One aspect of this might be connected to Operations: "Through your actions, the pristine world around you will change into a battle-scarred landscape, changing the world forever," EA says. It's unclear what this "forever" refers to, whether it means over the course of an Operation or something else.

Battlefield 1 also introduces Behemoths, which are described as the "largest fully player-controlled vehicles ever seen in Battlefield." (That distinction could be a way of distinguishing them from Battlefield 2142's enormous Titans.) You'll also get to control things like an armored train, air ship, and battleship, which we knew about previously.

Dynamic weather is included as well, presenting things like heavy fog and rain that make it more difficult to see.

EA also indicated the previously confirmed open beta launches "later this summer." The full game is then due out on October 21, or October 18 if you preorder a special version.
